What we say

We make projects that are reflections of the people who commission them, use them, build them, design them. By inviting clients, users, builders, fabricators and collaborators to contribute to a shared vision, we create spaces and places that resonate deeply with the people who use them and helped make them.

We research and analyse the physical, cultural, social context of each site/ neighbourhood/ family/ organisation. We ask lots of questions and take time to listen: we test scenarios (current and future) and ensure everyone is heard.

Every project is unique and our response is as unique for each. We create an atmosphere of collaboration and dialogue where people are unafraid to bring ideas or proposals. Having established a shared vision at the outset, every member of the team is empowered to contribute. We seek to inspire, challenge, delight and by inviting clients and users to feel ownership of these ideas, they become bolder & more ambitious in terms of what the project can be.

We invest in knowledge and research for each project to ensure a deep understanding of that context. We also invest in research and knowledge within the practice in general to build on knowledge from individual projects and to develop new specialisms and areas of expertise that can benefit our clients and create new opportunities for the practice.

Our work has been largely focused on delivering new and reimagined homes for residential clients and we love the challenge and opportunities that this offers. As the projects we are involved with diversify, we are bringing our philosophy of thoughtful co-creation to bigger and more complex projects. Our ambition will remain the same: to create architecture that is bold, thoughtful, playful and that has been conceived by everyone that has been part of the process of making it.

"We hired nimtim on the advice of an Architect friend and worked with them through the complete remodelling of our Victorian property and doing a substantial side return extension.

We worked together through the feasibility study and design, they assisted us to put together a striking and unique look that suits us perfectly and works amazingly well as a family home. They were always on hand when needed and stepped us through the entire process. We're extremely happy with the outcome - we've ended up with a stylish and useable property that it feels perfect for us. I couldn't recommend them enough - we'll look to use them again if ever we do subsequent work - they have been brilliant!"

"We are a mental health charity that provides free long term psychotherapy advice and group support for the residents of Lambeth and Southwark. The nimtim team visited our existing premises in order to understand how we currently used our existing space, and to get a granular understanding of what we wanted to achieve. They researched the most cutting-edge and therapeutic mental health cultures and spaces they could find around the world. They immersed themselves in books and ideas, to create a thoughtful, vibrant and creative spaces. They brought the same rigour to the design process; they created 5 different plans with different staff and client configurations. They also helped us to get full costed plans together to take the project to the next stage. The nimtim team exceeded our expectations and we now have a blueprint for how to convert our space into a really innovative space, that blends privacy, with lots of opportunities for group work and conversation. Thank you nimtim. "
